ZJU-Adinovo Center for Genetic & Genomic Medicine is a multi-discipline institution combining research, education and clinical service, launched by Zhejiang University Medical School, James D Watson Institute of Genome Sciences, and Beijing ADINOVO Gene Technology Co Ltd

It aims to establish an international standard but local pertinent operation system for rapid and continuous applications of latest advances of genomic medicine research to public health in China.

The Zhejiang University based Center cooperates with both domestic key hospitals and multiple globally prominent organizations in the field, including the Harvard-Partner Center for Genetics & Genomics, University of Rochester, University of Washington, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories. We will study and identify the disease-causing and predisposing genes as well as their relevant environmental factors, behavioral triggers, and suppressors in the huge and unique Chinese population.

The Center consists of a genetic and genomic clinic, ten core laboratories and a bank of major diseases in the Chinese population, being a multi-discipline institution combining research, education, and clinical service. It is the genomic medicine training site of the Chinese Physician Association. The newly built international molecular diagnostic laboratory will be inspected and certified by CLIA and CAP.

The Center is directed by Dr. Ming Qi, an America-trained clinical molecular geneticist. Special advisers include Dr. James Watson (Nobel Price laureate, member of the US National Academy of Sciences [USNAS]), Dr. Arno Motulsky (USNAS), Dr. Francis Collins (USNAS), Dr. Y. W. Kan (USNAS), Dr. Douglas Wallace (USNAS), and Dr. Peter Byers (former president of American Society of Human Genetics). We will be the “match maker” for local physicians/researchers who are interested in genomic medicine with the international experts in University of Washington, University of Rochester, and University of British Columbia in specific fields, such as cardiac arrhythmia (Dr. Arthur Moss), bone diseases (Dr. Peter Byers), pediatric disorders (Dr. Judy Hall), neurological diseases (Dr. Robert Griggs), and breast cancer (Dr. M-C King), through joint clinic, resident and graduate student training, and research programs. We will also collaborate with other national and international laboratories and institutions in the fields of electrophysiology, development biology, chemistry, material sciences, psychology, and developing new genetic tests and targeted drugs in order to improve public health.
